About MAYAYUEN

Born in Hong Kong and educated at the University of the Arts, London - London College of Communication, Maya Yuen began her career working for 4As advertising agencies and in luxury marketing. Her passion for jewellery began when she took up a position as a jewellery marketer at Lane Crawford, which immersed Maya in world-class jewellery design. Her desire to create jewellery was sparked from a jewellery design and production course at Hong Kong Baptist University, and further education back in London at Central Saint Martins nurtured her natural talent and strengthened her ambition and confidence to pursue jewellery design. In 2015, she launched her first collection of MAYAYUEN JEWELLERY.

 

THE BRAND

MAYAYUEN JEWELLERY was created to give power to its owner every day. Its timeless but contemporary style takes inspiration from architecture, Art Deco and bold geometric shapes, and compliments any occasion from day to night. A strong motivation for Maya is the notion of putting the control in the hands of the wearer. She explains, "The ability to change a look by simply adding, subtracting or reversing in combinations give my customers control over the image they want to convey, under any situation. From casual to glamorous, I want to inspire the creativity of the wearer through transformation." MAYAYUEN JEWELLERY is made for the sophisticated modern customer with depth of character and a bold outlook on life.

From hand sketches to store experience, Maya is personally involved in each piece to ensure its beauty and quality. She uses only high quality craftsmanship from accredited manufacturers of the HKJMA, whom she carefully selects and works closely with to create each piece. This attention to detail ensures MAYAYUEN JEWELLERY is always delivered in perfect condition.

 

THE DESIGN CONCEPT

The core concept of MAYAYUEN JEWELLERY is the creation of complementary pieces that can stand alone or be mixed and matched throughout collections, placing the power of transformation and creativity in the hands of the wearer. MAYAYUEN JEWELLERY takes the body as a frame to stack, where recurring geometric shapes compliment organic natural curves, and can be amplified with repetition and reorientation to create ever more glamorous effects. Placing creativity in the wearer also imbues MAYAYUEN JEWELLERY with an inherent sense of playfulness; earrings that can be matched with different jackets, rings that may be worn in reverse and stacked in countless ways to embellish the entire hand, body jewellery that may be matched with necklaces of differing lengths for different amounts of drama. Maya’s creations are an invitation for the beholder to unlock their imagination.
